Coordinated logistics for ABC’s extreme mini golf competition series, executive produced by Stephen Curry.
Holey Moley is ABC’s extreme mini golf competition series, executive produced by NBA star Stephen Curry, featuring elaborate, larger-than-life obstacle courses. As Assistant Production Coordinator, I coordinated logistics, budgets, travel, and documentation for the large-scale competition series.
Behind the Scenes
Where were you?
Los Angeles, California
What’s the moment things went sideways?
Building and maintaining elaborate mini golf holes for a live competition meant something was always in motion. If a hole needed last minute repairs or adjustments between takes, we had to move fast to keep the shoot day on schedule.
A crew or cast story that still gets told
We were at the whim of the elements up in the rural part of Santa Clarita. During the day it was all clear skies, and we were expecting a drizzle that night, so we prepped everything accordingly. Well, Mother Nature had other plans and delivered a nonstop downpour that night. The rain came down so fast and hard that the ground just turned to mud. We all walked to our cars that night completely soaked and covered in mud.
What would a viewer never guess?
How much engineering goes into holes that look like backyard fun on camera. Between the stunts, the water features, and the obstacles, there was a whole construction and safety process behind every hole before a single contestant played it.
What were you actually running day to day?
I supported the production team with scheduling, coordinating between departments, and making sure contestants, crew, and equipment were where they needed to be for each hole and each take.
What are you proudest of on this one?
Getting to work on a show with this much creativity and physical scale was a great experience, and I was proud to be part of a team that pulled off something so ambitious every episode.
